The Perfect Summer Romcom
As I was scrolling through my list of books to review, I realised—shock horror!—that most of them are pretty dark and emotional. But earlier this year, I went through a phase where I craved something lighter and more fun (likely while slogging through the Booker Prize longlist and desperately needing a break!). It was during this time that I discovered The Wedding Forecast by Nina Kenwood.
This week, I’m recommending it as the perfect addition to your summer reading list! Whether you're lounging poolside or at the beach, this book will deliver the feel-good vibes you're looking for.
Nina Kenwood’s The Wedding Forecast is a witty, heartwarming romcom that marks a stellar debut into adult fiction for this beloved YA author. Packed with relatable characters, tangled relationships, and laugh-out-loud moments, this book checks all the boxes for a fabulous summer read.
The story follows Anna, who’s navigating an emotionally charged wedding weekend as a bridesmaid. To make matters worse, her ex, Joel, is a groomsman—complete with his new partner, Bianca, in tow. Add the awkwardness of staying in the same house as the lovebirds and the looming reality of turning thirty without her life being where she expected, and Anna’s poised for some serious self-reflection.
Enter Patrick, the sweet wedding photographer everyone insists is "perfect" for Anna. Then, just to keep things interesting, Mac, a charming actor from New York, shakes things up further. The chemistry between the characters practically sizzles, and Kenwood’s humour keeps even the messiest moments feeling light and fun.
Fans of romantic comedies, especially those who adore Emily Henry’s sharp banter and lovable characters, will find a lot to love here. It’s the kind of book that makes you laugh, swoon, and root for Anna every step of the way.
Bonus Recommendation: If you’re looking for more summer reads, I also dove into my first Abby Jimenez book this year (who even am I?), and it was absolutely delightful! Just For the Summer gets 4.5 stars from me, so why not add it to your list? Because life’s too short to read bad books.
